INDICATIONS
Procaine penicillin for injection, the indication is that due to the low blood concentration of this product, its application is limited to mild and moderate infections caused by highly sensitive pathogens to penicillin, such as tonsillitis and scarlet fever caused by group A streptococcus , Erysipelas, Streptococcus pneumoniae pneumonia, boils, carbuncles, and angina caused by penicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus. This product can still be used for the treatment of leptospirosis, relapsing fever and early syphilis.
Adverse reactions
1. Allergic reactions: urticaria and other rashes are more common, leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attacks and serum sickness type reactions are rare; anaphylactic shock is rare, once it occurs, it must be rescued on the spot to keep the airway open , oxygen inhalation and administration of epinephrine, glucocorticoid and other treatment measures.
2. Hershey's reaction and treatment contradiction: when procaine penicillin is used to treat syphilis, leptospirosis and other diseases, the symptoms can be aggravated due to the death of the pathogen, which is called Hershey's reaction; treatment contradiction is also seen in syphilis patients, which means that the syphilis lesions disappear after treatment Too fast, while tissue repair is relatively slow or the fibrous tissue at the lesion site shrinks, which hinders organ function.
3. Superinfection: Penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Gram-negative bacilli, or Candida superinfection may occur.
